Captain

Captain Grant J. Peel

USCG 100T Inland Master/50T Near Coastal

Captain Grant has 10+ years of experience on Alaskan waters successfully helping anglers of all ages and experience catch their limit of halibut on a near daily basis during the season.  In charge of your safety and your fishing success, he is adept at reading the tides, currents, and weather patterns to get you to the places that the fish will be at the right time!

Once you’re in the right spot, Capt. Grant is on deck alongside the deckhands checking on your fishing progress, baiting hooks, and doing what it takes to put fish in the box .He has also amassed hours of music playlists to accompany your adventure.

Capt Grant became the owner of the Foxfire in 2024, after running it for 8 years as captain  He personally worked on its repowering and rewiring, and management of all the overall care and maintenance.

Raised in south Florida, he grew up spending hours on the ocean in search of the local gamefish such as dolphin (Mahi), grouper, wahoo, tuna and sailfish.  Working summers at West Marine and wrestling kept him busy when not chasing fish.

In his spare time, he obtained a BS in Ocean Engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, and is continuing his graduate studies through the University of Hawaii.  When not on the Foxfire, you can often find him walking his lovable chocolate lab Moose on the beach, searching for seaglass.
